    Transportation Association Names Best Drivers, Operators and Industry Leaders for 2016


    From Massachusetts to California, the best of the best in taxicab, limousine and paratransit service will be recognized in front of 1,000 industry peers next month


    (ROCKVILLE, Maryland)—The Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association (TLPA) is pleased to announce the winners of its annual driver, operator and industry leader awards. This year’s awards go to a host of dedicated individuals, from visionary fleet owners who have changed the industry for the better, to drivers who exemplify the importance of safety and service in every trip they make.

    The oldest and largest trade association of its kind in the world, the TLPA recognizes exemplary individuals each year across eight categories. The eight categories and this year’s winners are:

    • Taxicab Driver of the Year Enders Abdu, driving for Yellow Checker Cab Co. of San Jose, California.
    • Taxicab Operator of the Year Nick Cambas of United Taxi in Tampa, Florida.
    • Limousine & Sedan Chauffeur of the Year Frank Johnson, driving for Executive Transportation in Newport, Kentucky.
    • Limousine & Sedan Operator of the Year David Friedman of Carmel Car & Limousine Service in New York City.
    • Paratransit & Contracting Driver of the Year Gregg Katz, driving for 10/10 Taxi of Kansas City, Missouri.
    • Paratransit & Contracting Operator of the Year Judy Potter of Black & White Transportation in Toledo, Ohio.
    • Outstanding Contributor to Women in Transportation Jo-Anne Thompson of Tommy’s Taxi, Inc. in Framingham, Massachusetts.
    • Lifetime Achievement Award winner Mitch Rouse of American Logistics Company in Los Angeles, California.

    “We are fortunate to have so many outstanding fleet operators, drivers and exemplary leaders in the transportation industry,” said TLPA CEO Alfred LaGasse. “Their work in transportation demonstrates their daily focus on safety and service, as well as their commitment to innovation and leadership.”

    The honorees will accept their awards in front of 1,000 industry professionals at the TLPA’s 98th Annual Convention & Trade Show between Nov. 2 and 4 at the Hyatt Regency / Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
