The Genov brothers started their company four years ago with a simple idea in mind: The transportation industry should be looking forward.
At the time, Grigoriy was working for another transportation company when its owner died, leaving him with an idea. Why couldn’t he start a company himself? He had more than 20 years of experience in the transportation industry; he only needed a partner. Grigoriy enlisted his brother, Roman, who has an extensive background in finance, and they started their own venture. Sky Transportation was born.
“We wanted something fresh, something light, something that looks forward rather than back,” Roman said. “We wanted to do something different.”
To the brothers, even the name of the company represented a step forward. They started with only three vehicles, but have since expanded to more than 40. Their company provides local and long distance livery rides, as well as non-emergency medical transportation services in Connecticut. The Genov brothers and their company recently joined the Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association.
So far, they’ve focused on ensuring their cabs are keeping up to date with technology, including GPS tracking and cameras in every car. What’s more, they’ve decided to take a new approach to the cabs themselves. They only buy brand new hybrid vehicles, and replace them every two years. The brothers are keen on both the financial incentives and the environmental benefits of hybrids. Their customers have noticed, too.
“We get a great response,” Roman said. “Everyone wants to ride in a nicer vehicle rather than something that’s 10-20 years old. We’ve noted a significant increase in our customer base – who doesn't like getting into a new vehicle, covered with great decals, with that new car smell, and complete with a clean interior and exterior?”
Though the Genov brothers are new members of the association, they haven’t wasted any time getting involved. They’re going to attend the TLPA Spring Conference & Expo in Palm Springs next month.
We welcome Sky Transportation to TLPA!
