Meet Your New TLPA President

The Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association named its newest president, Mike Pinckard, during its 99th Annual Convention & Trade Show last month in Denver. For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to meet Mike, here's what you need to know about him:

Pinckard currently serves as the CEO of Total Transit in Glendale, Arizona. He was born and raised in Downey, California. Pinckard is a huge baseball fan and was even drafted by his hometown team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, after a successful college career.

Shortly after his major league baseball career ended due to an injury, Pinckard worked in the armored transportation industry, where he spent the next 17 years. He joined Total Transit in 2002 and served as president of the company through 2015 before becoming CEO in 2016. Total Transit provides private and public transportation, as well as a suite of transportation management services. Since 2006, the company has grown from $14 million in annual sales to $170 million today.

Pinckard has a plan for TLPA's future that includes a completely new strategy and roadmap. He plans to redefine TLPA's vision for the industry and restructure the association itself to better serve members. Last but not least in his plan is a full rebranding set to coincide with TLPA's new Ride Local™ campaign.

"These are both challenging and exciting times. It's been times like these that have historically brought out the very best in our industry, its leaders, and this association. I'm confident, that together, we will again answer the call, as we always have, by accepting our obligation and securing our path forward," Pinckard said to the association during its Annual Convention & Trade Show. "While we must always fight for the long-held principles that serve us well, we must also begin the process of reshaping our vision for the future in a more inclusive and collaborative manner. It should be in a manner that seizes the new and exciting opportunities before us by blending the greatness of our past with the innovations and excitement of the future."

TLPA's presidents serve for a year at a time—from one Annual Convention & Trade Show to the next—and are chosen by a vote of all of our members. Pinckard succeeds Metro Taxi Connecticut's Bill Scalzi, who served the 2016-2017 term.

Pinckard lives in Arizona with his wife, Yvonne, whom he has been married to for more than 35 years. They have two daughters, Krystin and Kayla, and two grandsons, Julian and Michael.
