In the United States, there are approximately 12,400 limousine companies operating 126,000 vehicles. About 11% of these operations have fleets with more than 20 vehicles. Limousine companies provide work for 275,000 people and transport 400 million passengers annually for a variety of purposes that include airport transfers, business and corporate travel, weddings, and social outings.
The term "limousine" is somewhat of a misnomer because it encompasses a diversified vehicle fleet. Of the 126,000 vehicles licensed as limousines, they can be broken out as follows:
|Stretch limousines less than 85"||10,000|
|Stretch limousines 85" to 130"||24,000|
|Stretch limousines more than 130"||4,000|
More than 400 companies are currently members of TLPA's Limousine & Sedan Division. These companies have access to information, educational seminars, legislative representation, industry experts, and a professional network of peers and suppliers that can't be found anywhere but TLPA.
The TLPA Limousine & Sedan Division members will enjoy electronic distribution of this year's Limousine & Sedan Fact Book which will include information on vehicles (green, age limits, model type, etc.) and an array of educational and professional development forums at the Spring Conference & Expo and Annual Convention & Trade Show.
These initiatives are at the direction of the Limousine & Sedan Steering Committee, a group of fleet operators who volunteer to take responsibility for the division's programs and services.
