PREMIER CONVENTION SPONSORS

THE INVITATION

TLPA President William "Bill" Rouse and the TLPA leadership invites the membership, vendors, spouses and guests of TLPA to "The Cradle of Liberty", Boston, Massachusetts for the 95th Annual Convention & Trade Show at the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center, October 27-31, 2013.

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS

One of the oldest cities in the United States, Boston was founded on the Shawmut Peninsula in 1630 by Puritan colonists from England. It was the scene of several key events of the American Revolution, such as the Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party, the Battle of Bunker Hill and the Siege of Boston.

Boston is the capital of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the state's largest city, and the county seat of Suffolk County in the United States. The City of Boston hosts over 12 million annual visitors from across the country and around the globe. This vibrant, thriving city is renowned for its cultural facilities, world-class educational institutions, champion sports franchises, as well as its place at the very forefront of American history.

Because of the city's prominent role in the American Revolution, several historic sites relating to that period are preserved as part of the Boston National Historical Park. Many are found along the Freedom Trail, which is marked by a red line of bricks embedded in the ground. The city is also home to several art museums, including the Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

THE TRADE SHOW

This year the trade show will be held in the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center. The Hynes Convention Center is conveniently connected to the Sheraton Boston Hotel via indoor walkways.

The John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center built in 1988 from a design by architects Kallmann, McKinnell & Wood. It replaced a previous building, also a convention center, regarded as "ungainly." The 1988 design "attempted to relate in scale and materials to its Back Bay setting, adopting granite and setbacks... The severe gray interior is reminiscent of an early 20th-century German railroad station." The Center is named after former Boston mayor John Hynes.

WEATHER

In late October in Boston it's generally a very pleasant time of year, without extremes of temperature, and usually dry and sunny. But, it's possible to get a day of heavy rain. The typical weather at that time of the year would range from pleasantly cool to refreshingly chilly, but it's possible that it could be fairly cold or as warm as days in the 70's or low 80's. A sweater, a light jacket, and rain gear, along with both long- and short-sleeved shirts, should be fine for almost any kind of weather you'd encounter in Boston that time of year.
