TLPA Launches "Pink Ride" to Fight Breast Cancer.
In a first-ever campaign of its kind in its almost 100-year history, TLPA is encouraging its members to use their fleets' collective public visibility for its 2010 "Pink Ride" initiative to drive breast cancer awareness and fundraising.
Fleet owners across the United States and around the world have signed on to the new program by painting, wrapping or affixing stickers in pink colors to taxicabs, limousines and paratransit vehicles. The goal is to raise awareness of this disease that affects one in eight women. In addition, each participating company is expected to make a charitable contribution of at least $1 from each fare generated by a "Pink Ride" vehicle in October 2010, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
There is no cost to passengers-each company bears the responsibility of the donation. Fleet owners then choose the breast cancer organization of their own choice, whether it be a national charity, research facility, or local hospital, to which the money will be donated.
