The Destination
Paris—the City of Lights—a destination that leaves all visitors with a sense of wonder and a determination to return. Most first-time visitors are drawn to the sites they've always dreamed to see — the Mona Lisa at the Louvre, a stroll down the Champs-Elysées, Notre Dame, and the Eiffel Tower. But those who have experienced Paris know that the essence of the city lies in its riverbanks and neighborhoods. To experience Paris is to people watch as you relax at a sidewalk café or converse with locals during a street festival. You may want to extend your stay and join the celebration of Bastille Days on July 14 that celebrates the French revolution of 1789. The Invitation
President Brian Hunt invites you visit our Parisian colleagues to learn the differences and similarities of the transportation business in France. The program of events will include discussion of the current industry developments in the United States and how they compare to what is happening in France. We'll also visit the headquarters of our largest international member, Veolia Transportation, to see where they conduct their worldwide business transactions.

Overlooking the magnificent Tuileries Gardens, the Westin Paris is only steps from the famed Champs-Elysées and the Louvre Museum. The guest rooms have recently been redecorated and include the Westin Heavenly Beds®. All rooms have air-conditioning, hairdryers, satellite TV, in-room safe, internet access, dataports, bathrobes, voicemail, phone, 24-hour room service and access to business centre. The Hotel has a complimentary fitness center.
Room Types: The hotel offers a variety of bed options to include: (1) King bed, (1) Queen bed, (2) Queen beds, (2) Twin beds, and adjoining rooms. Cots are also available. Room types can be requested but will not be guaranteed; however, the hotel has expressed their intent to make sure everyone is comfortable.
Cost of guest rooms is 300€ per night, run-of-house, excluding breakfast (which is available separately at 35€ / person). The hotel has created a personalized website for the TLPA. Click here to make your reservation.
Important note regarding reservations on the hotel website: Our room block is July 9-12. If you request a room outside of these dates, you might get a message that says, "No rooms are available". If this occurs, please adjust/shorten your requested dates until the system accepts your reservation then send an email to dlagasse@tlpa.org with your confirmation number, the dates you were successful in reserving and the dates you still need to have the room. We will contact the hotel in an effort to extend the reservation as needed.
One child, 18 years and under are free in the parent's room. For security reasons we can accommodate a maximum of 3 persons in a room. If there are 2 children, you will need to book a connecting room. There is an 80€ supplement for a 3rd adult person (older than 18 years).

Views include the Louvre Museum, Tuileries Gardens, and the Eiffel Tower. Specific views will not be confirmed for the group rate. If you want to confirm a specific view, the additional cost will be 50€ per night (upon availability).

Reservations Procedure
Make your hotel reservations early, TLPA's conference rates will be available until June 22, 2008 or whenever our room block sells out, whichever happens first. However, the Hotel begins releasing a percentage of our un-sold room block beginning on May 5, 2008. If you plan to attend, we strongly advise that you secure your room reservation by May 5, 2008.
Room Cancellation Policy:
- Any cancelled room night or non arrival after the cut off date on the June 22nd 2008 is the responsibility of each individual attendee and will be charged to the holding credit card.
- Any cancelled room night between 7 and 3 days is the responsibility of each individual attendee and will be charged to the holding credit card for the amount of 1 night.
- Any cancelled room night or non-arrival within 3 days before the arrival is the responsibility of each individual attendee and will be charged to the holding credit card for the whole stay.

Climate & Clothing
Temperatures in Paris in July average in the mid-70º Fahrenheit range during the day, although nights may dip to as low as 60°. Our meetings will be business casual, but you may want to bring along a dressier outfit or sports coat for that special evening out.

Travel Tips
- The monetary unit in France is the Euro.
- In France, all prices shown include tax and tip (usually 15%). If you receive exceptional service, you may wish to leave 5-10% more to show your appreciation.
Items of Note
- July 9 has been declared Tourism Day in Paris. Special events for the visitor are being arranged including special welcome kiosks throughout the city with free guides and maps, complimentary souvenir pictures at certain locations and special tours are being offered to less well-known areas of Paris to show a closer view of the Parisian life. Many local businesses will also offer promotions.
- Paris celebrates their National holiday "Bastille Days" on July 13-14.
- Check out the Paris Museum pass to get priority admission to 60 museums & monuments.
